David Pierard

COAL CITY—David Dale Pierard, 76, a life-long resident of Coal City, passed away Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017 at his home.
Born Sept. 20, 1941, Dave was the son of Ernest and Talia (Farrero) Pierard. He was raised in Coal City and graduated with the Coal City High School class of 1959. On May 11, 1963, Dave married Margaret Ann Smith in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City, and together they made their home and raised their family in Coal City.
Dave was a 35-year employee of the Joliet Facility of Rexene Polymers, Mobile Chemical and BASF as a chemical operator, production supervisor, quality control supervisor/environmental coordinator and liquid unloading/logistics supervisor. Dave was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church. He belonged to the Coal City Area Club and in past years raised Irish Setters and worked with the Boy Scouts. Dave loved sports, especially the New York Yankees, enjoyed statistics and horse racing. He enjoyed working in his backyard, building a pond and planting trees. His greatest pleasure was his grandchildren and following them in their sports and school activities.
Dave wanted to be remembered that through his three years of cancer treatment he never lost his sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marg; three children: Marcie (Bill) Miller of Colorado Springs, CO; Tracey (Sheri) Pierard and Paul Pierard, both of Coal City; seven grandchildren: Andrew (Lizzie) Miller of San Francisco, CA; Tony Miller of Chicago, Matthew Miller of Fort Collins, CO and Kyle (Tawny) Pierard, Dylan Pierard, Logan Pierard and Talya Pierard, all of Coal City; two great-grandchildren, Jace and Tessa; two brothers, Ernest (Esther) Pierard of Morris and Edward (Lorraine) Pierard of Coal City, and two brothers-in-law,  Ted “Pidge” (Cathy) Smith and Tom Fedash, both of Coal City, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Alice Fedash.
Visitation and video tribute will be held Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017 between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m.  at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 N. Broadway, one block north of Illinois Route 113, in Coal City. Funeral services will follow Friday morning at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 110 S. School St. in Braidwood. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Robert Noesen presiding.
Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dave’s grandsons: Andrew Miller, Anthony Miller, Matthew Miller, Kyle Pierard, Dylan Pierard and Logan Pierard.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Agamy, Jim Agamy, Ted Smith, Don Riley, Mike Hines, Greg Washburn, Tony Bosonetta and Tom Jiskra.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Dave’s memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, St. Jude Children’s Memorial Hospital, the American Cancer Society or Joliet Area Community Hospice.
