Cleone Williams

COAL CITY—Cleone “Cleo” Williams, 89, of Coal City, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018 at the Morris Hospital in Morris, IL.
She was born July 9, 1928 in Ellsworth, MN. to John and Sophie (Essman) Rosenberg. She married John “Jack” Williams on June 17, 1949 at the Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth. Cleo received her teaching degree at Mankato State Teachers College in Mankato and her B.A. degree from North Central College in Naperville. She taught many years at the elementary level, last teaching first grade at Oak View School and North View Schools in Bolingbrook, IL. She retired in 1990.
 Since retiring, Cleo and Jack continued to live in their Coal City Home. They enjoyed the closeness to their children and all the activities they did together. Cleo was also a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Coal City, where she served as a Deacon for many years.
She is survived by her dear husband of 68 years, Jack; her two loving children, Beth (Ray) Zamora and Scott (Holly) Williams; three grandsons: Adam (Kim), Austin (Emily) and Alex Zamora and three granddaughters: Kaylee, Ashley and Maggie Williams; one sister Ione Rosenberg of Coal City; one brother Arlyn Rosenberg of Tucson, AZ. and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to the New Hope Presbyterian Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
Cleo will be cremated in accordance to her wishes.
A memorial gathering will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018 at the New Hope Presbyterian Church (80 N. Garfield Street) in Coal City, until the time of the memorial service at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mark Hughey officiating.
Inurnment will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 29, 2018 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Please meet at the Welcome Center by 9:45 a.m. at the cemetery.
