Christmas closures

Wilmington city hall and the administrative office of the Wilmington Police Department will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 25 for Christmas, and Wednesday, Jan. 1, for the New Year’s holiday.
Waste pickup in the city will be one day late during Christmas week, with collection taking place on Friday, Dec. 27, and one day late the week of New Year’s Day, with collection again on Friday, Jan. 3.
The Will County Land Use Department’s free Electronics Recycling event is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Wilmington City Hall for those who wish to dispose of the flat screens and computers that were replaced on Christmas. The event is open to all Will County residents.
The administrative office of the School District 209-U closed at the end of the school day Friday, Dec. 20. Students, faculty and administrators will be out on winter break through the first of the year with students returning to class on Tuesday, Jan. 7. Faculty and staff return Jan. 6 for an in-service day.
Wilmington Public Library will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The library will observe regular hours between the holidays.
The Wilmington Post Office’s retail counter will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with regular mail service on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and will be closed on Christmas Day. The post office will observe its regular schedule New Year’s Eve but is closed New Year’s Day. There will also be no package delivery on Christmas and New Year’s Day.
Will County offices will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
The Free Press Newspapers office will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The office will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26. The office will be closed New Year’s Day and reopen at the regular time on Thursday, Jan. 2.
