COAL CITY—Cathryn Lucille Fleming, 81, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 24, 2025. Born Nov. 15, 1943, Cathy was the daughter of Louis and Margaret (Cornale) Campo. She was raised and educated in Coal City and graduated from Coal City High School with the class of 1961. On Sept. 24, 1966, Cathy married James Fleming at the Assumption Catholic Church. They resided in Coal City their entire lives and were blessed with two daughters.

She loved to travel and take trips with her family, and especially enjoyed visiting historical sites in the USA. As an expert seamstress, she created everything from Halloween costumes to formal dresses. She was a profoundly skilled pianist, often entertaining everyone at family events, and she also studied the harp.
Cathy had a flair for the artistic as well, ranging from decorating store windows for her sister, contributing entries in the Festival of Trees, crafting extraordinary ornaments, and creating school posters and art projects for any family member in need. She had a soft spot for schnauzers, and she loved to read about true crime, the civil war era, celebrity biographies, and the history of the Royal Family. She had a great sense of humor and always loved a good joke. Lastly, Cathy loved to make food and feed people. She was always ready to feed anyone that came into her house and made sure you left well fed.
