Bernice Kral

WILMINGTON—Bernice Kral (nee Calahan), 98, of Wilmington, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020 at the Timbers of Shorewood.
Born Jan. 21, 1922 in Joliet, she was the daughter of Bernard and Rose (nee Cinotto) Calahan. Bernice graduated from the Reed-Custer High School in Braidwood, with the class of 1940. She lived in Wilmington with her late husband, Jim for over 70 years and they were members of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. They both loved to travel and spent 19 years wintering in Arizona. Bernice's greatest enjoyment was traveling, but she also enjoyed baking and listening to music, especially from the Big Band era. She was a proud homemaker and was very active with the Girl Scouts for many years. Bernice loved being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by them all.
Surviving are two daughters, Rosann Bonselaar, of Wheaton, IL and Frances Strader, of Chicago; seven grandchildren: Angela (Richard) Schaefer, Aaron Fox, Anthony (Alicia) Fox, Ashely (Phil) Strader-Penton, Kory (Diane) Bonselaar, Sean (Dana) Bonselaar and Brian (Amy) Bonselaar; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, James Edward Kral (2/20/2014), who she married Oct. 22, 1942 in Braidwood and one sister, Frances (the late Willard) Blanchette.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood will be held at a later date.
