The city of Wilmington has now adopted an updated set of building and fire codes, following months of research and suggestions from an outside firm.
In November 2021, the city contracted with B&F Construction Code Services to conduct a review of the city’s land use codes.
Those existing codes were the 2006 International Code Council (ICC) code standards. By utilizing 16 year old codes, the city was left with little in the way of assistance to enforce certain property maintenance standards.
