After taking its yearly look at the village of Coal City’s fiscal records, the town’s independent auditor issued a clean opinion saying the municipality’s finances are in good shape.
Having previously reviewed the financial document at length during a meeting of the village’s Finance Committee, auditor Brian Zabel, of Brian Zabel Associates, touched on the highlights prior to the board’s acceptance of the report last week.
Of note, the village’s assets exceeded its liabilities by $44.8 million resulting in an increase in net position of $211,162.
