Taco Bell, KFC coming to Diamond
Ann Gill

The rumors are true, Taco Bell and KFC are coming to the village of Diamond.

After months of speculation as to what would be constructed in the Diamond Pointe Commercial Center, the town's mayor confirmed what local residents have been hearing for weeks.

The 2,380-square foot restaurant will be the first building constructed in the retail center under development by G&S Commercial Group, LLC.

Kernc said the fast food restaurant is owned by Dave Brahmbhatt who also has a franchise location in Mendota and has been involved in other hospitality businesses.

"He's a very nice man and I enjoy working with him," Kernc said.

The mayor, who had been sworn to secrecy about the project until all of the logistics had been worked out, including road access onto Route 113, noted she's excited to welcome the business to town.

The layout of the restaurant, Kernc said, is comfortable and inviting. The building will have seating for just under 100 customers and include seating on an outdoor patio.

Vehicles entering off Route 113 will be required to access the parking lot from the rear of the building and customers will enter on the east side. The business will include a drive-up window.

Although construction is running a bit behind due to weather, Kernc estimates it to be completed by the end of the calendar year.

The restaurant is the first of center's lots to be developed, but Kernc said the prospect for future development is strong in that area of the village.
